Pencil post canopy bed plans for woodworking furniture

Canopy beds were very popular in the 18th Century -- when houses were drafty and poorly insulated, the canopy would be pulled down to keep the sleeper more warm. Practical and graceful, the 80" high Pencil-Post bed can be used with or without the canopy frame. The plan shows a turned finial for use without the canopy. The bed can be completely disassembled for ease in transport. Suggested woods are cherry, mahogany, walnut, or maple to create this distinctive bed. Double Bed: 59" by 80-1/4". Queen size: 64-3/4" by 85-1/4". The plan has details for both sizes.
