Secretary Desk Plans The woodworking blueprint you will purchase here builds the pictured secretary desk in two separate pieces -- a lower drop front desk and the upper bookcase hutch. The broken pediment (top of hutch) adds a classic touch to any desk. It has three shelves behind the glass doors. Make it of walnut or mahogany. While it is meant to go with the drop front desk plan we offer, it can be used with an existing desk. The finished size of the upper portion is 11-5/8" deep, 35" wide, and 44-1/4" high. The lower portion, when combined with the bookcase hutch just described, creates a most elegant Chippendale secretary desk. The drop front, supported by two slides, provides a useable writing surface over the graduated drawers below. There are five small drawers within the desk's drop front where there is traditional pigeon-hole storage. It also features two small vertical column drawers.
